One
goal of ours at Tim D. Wilson Investigations is to do
our very best to fight for the rights of injured victims
caused by the use of defective drugs. In our fight to
balance the scales of justice we are currently blessed
with the opportunity to work with top physicians and
attorneys from across the United States in assisting
defective drug cases. To help insure that justice is
prevailed, we are currently working with injured
patients who have used the Orthro Evra Patch. Recent
studies suggest that the use of the Orthro Evra Patch
has been linked to serious injury. It has also been
brought to our attention that the manufactures of this
drug had prior knowledge of the dangers from its use.
This, we believe, is unjust.
The Orthro Evra Patch is a form of birth control that is
worn as a patch as opposed to being taken orally. Recent
studies have shown that the use of the Orthro Evra Patch
has been linked to serious sided effects such as
dangerous blood clots. In 2006 a study revealed that the
use of the Orthro Evra Patch causes women to be twice as
susceptible to developing these dangerous blood clots as
apposed to those who took birth control orally in a pill
form. In addition to the study in 2006 a study also
revealed in 2005 that women who used the Orthro Evra
Patch were exposed to as much as 60 percent more
estrogen than those who took the pill form. The reason
that women who use the Orthro Evra Patch receive such a
significant amount of estrogen is due to the method of
absorption. In the pill form the digestive system is
used as a dilution factor, but the Orthro Evra Patch
causes the estrogen to be absorbed directly into the
blood stream, without the dilution factor from the
digestive system.
It is alleged that the high levels of the estrogen being
absorbed into the blood stream can result in serious
side effects such as blood clots, stokes, and even heart
attacks. It is estimated that about 4 million women have
used the Orthro Evra Patch since it went on the market
in 2002. Since the drug was put on the market the FDA
has received many reports of women suffering from these
serious and life threatening side effects. As of 2005
the FDA had received 21 reports of life threatening
ailments due to the use of the Orthro Evra Patch. The
Associated Press has acquired records from the FDA which
reveal that 17 users of the Orthro Evra Patch that were
between the ages of 17 and 30 have suffered from fatal
heart attacks, blood clots, and strokes since August of
2002.
One of the biggest concerns is that the manufactures of
the Orthro-Evra Patch have presented this method of
birth control as an easier method of use, compared to
the oral pill form. The manufactures of Orthro Evra
Patch are liable for the damages that have been caused
due to the fact that the warning label was fallacious.
The warning label that they put on the Orthro Evra Patch
describes the side effects of the Orthro Evra Patch as
being very similar to that of the pill form. There has
even been a case where a high ranking former employee of
Johnson & Johnson stated that they knew that the high
levels of estrogen were dangerous and could cause
serious side effects prior to putting it on the market.
Tim D. Wilson Investigations is currently working with
top physicians and attorneys in order to help our
clients receive the representation that they deserve.
Many women from across the United States have suffered
from the misconception that is written on the warning
labels drugs such as the Orthro Evra Patch and many
others. If you have suffered from the use of the Orthro
Evra Patch please contact our office so that we can
bring to you the justice you deserve.
