Neurontin has been a focus of our investigations due to
the fact that it has been liked to suicide and the
illegal marketing strategy used by Parke-Davis, which

Neurontin is the brand name for Gabapentin which is a
medication originally prescribed to people who suffered
from epilepsy, to relieve pain. In 1994 Neurontin was
approved by the FDA to control seizures and in 2002
Neurontin was approved for the treatment of postherpetic
neuralgia. Other popular uses of Neurontin have also
been for the treatment migraine headaches, and nystagmus,
which is the involuntary movement of the eye.
One of the most skeptical issues involving Neurontin is
the overwhelming suspicion that Parke-Davis, now Pfizer,
created a marketing strategy in order to promote
Neurontin for uses unapproved by the United States Food
and Drug Administration (FDA). One of the most
controversial uses of this drug is for people with
bi-polar disorder. In 2003 the United States attorney's
office stated that Parke-Davis, now Pfizer, gave
kickbacks illegally to doctors across the United States
to prescribe Neurontin for unapproved uses.
Some of the unapproved uses that Parke-Davis, now
Pfizer, have illegally promoted include Bipolar
Disorder, Pain Syndromes, Peripheral Neuropathy,
Diabetic Neuropathy, treatment of epilepsy, Reflex
Sympathetic Dystrophy, Migraine Headaches, Post-Hepatic
Neuralgia, Restless Leg Syndrome, Trigeminal Neuralgia,
Attention Deficit Syndrome, Essential Tremor Periodic
Limb Movement, and Drug & Alcohol Withdrawal Seizures.
All of these uses are believed to be pre-meditated
unapproved uses which were promoted by Parke-Davis, now
Pfizer.
